Underdogs
Biography
UNDERDOGS is a Heavy Stoner power trio founded by vocalist and bassist Simone Vian, guitarist Michele Fontanarosa, and drummer Marco Brunello in the Venice area in late 2004. Brunello was replaced by Sandro Vazzoler and then by Alberto Trevisan, who has been a steady member since 2011. Their early sound is strongly influenced by the masters Kyuss, QOTSA, Nebula, and Black Sabbath. Over time, they developed a more personal style, embedding elements of Grunge and Hardcore Punk.
In 2007, they released their debut album Ready To Burn via Go Down Records. They also put out Revolution Love in 2011 and a self-titled record in 2014 under the same label. Between 2012 and 2014, the trio joined frontman Elvis Nine from the Austrian band Solrize. This new lineup performed two European tours to promote the album Mano Cornuta, recorded by Scott Reeder (Kyuss, Unida, The Obsessed) in California and released by Go Down Records. They also unleashed Solrize’s EP Hellnation, which marked the end of their collaboration as a four-piece band. The trio went on hiatus between 2015 and 2022 without officially disbanding.
In April 2023, the band reunited, then released the digital single ‘Die Or Dance,’ and resumed performing live. In November, they unleashed ‘Stonerland,’ a manifesto song of their musical genre. Both tracks are included in their new studio album Nine Ties, due out in October 2024 via Go Down Records. This fourth record is marked by a revamped songwriting energy, lower C tunings, and 90s Alternative Rock and Metal references, and features special guest Nick Oliveri (Kyuss, QOTSA, Mondo Generator, The Dwarves) on vocals on 'Knockin' On Hell’s Door.’
Over its career, the trio has toured Italy and Europe, sharing the stage with bands such as Planet of Zeus, Nick Oliveri, Colour Haze, The Answer, Brant Bjork, OJM, The Last Vegas, Black Rainbows, Josiah, Karma To Burn and Nebula.
