Alix
Biography
ALiX band - Heavy Rockin' and Blues Revue! A mixture of sounds embracing psychedelia, stoner, garage, and psych-blues.
The band formed in Bologna in 1997 with a debut self-titled album, recorded by Gianluca Gadda. In 1999 it was the turn of Cuore In Bocca, the sophomore work recorded by Gregor Marini at the Theater In Der Altstadt in Merano, featuring two previously unreleased lyrics by Italian writer Stefano Benni, entitled 'Regina' and 'Il Killer’. Both records were self-released.
In 2000 Alix won the first edition of the Italian RockrEvolution contest and played at the Heineken Jammin' Festival opening for Muse, Guano Apes, Primal Scream, and Rage Against the Machine. In 2001 they released the EP Nessun Brivido via Edgar Music, recorded by Gregor Marini in a trullo in Puglia.
In 2003 they set off on a long European tour with Scandinavians Dozer and Pawnshop. Once back, they recorded their third album Ground, produced by David Lenci at Red House Recording Studio and released by Go Down Records in 2004. The same year they toured Europe with Scott 'Wino' Weinrich's band, The Hidden Hand. They also played with other bands belonging to the US heavy/stoner scene such as Debris Inc. and Place Of Skulls.
In 2008, their fourth album Good One was released on TrebleLabel, recorded by Steve Albini at Red House Recording Studio in Senigallia. The track "The Sweet Smelling Road" was included in the soundtrack of the movie Bota Café by directors Iris Elezi and Thomas Logoreci.
In 2009 they joined Shellac on a Dutch tour, opening their acts at Paradiso in Amsterdam and the VERA Club in Groningen. In 2012 they performed at the UK festival All Tomorrow's Parties together with Neurosis, Shellac, Red Fang, Uzeda, and many others.
After nine years of hiatus, ALiX is coming back with its fifth album Last Dreamer, recorded by Luca Tacconi at Sotto il Mare Recording Studio in 2021 and finished by Alice Albertazzi in 2022. The album is due out at the end of November 2022 via Go Down Records.
