Alice Tambourine Lover
Biography
Alice Albertazzi and Gianfranco Romanelli started their collaboration by playing together in ALiX, an Italian psych band that released five albums, including Good One, recorded by Steve Albini in 2008.
Alice Tambourine Lover was born as a side project in 2011 and in three years the band released three records for the label Go Down Records: Naked Songs (2012), Star Rovers (2013), and Like A Rose (2015). The latter contains two unreleased tracks by Dandy Brown (Hermano, Orquesta Del Desierto) and John Garcia (Kyuss, Unida, Hermano). The cover of Like A Rose is signed by Californian photographer Ed Ross.
Film directors Iris Elezi and Thomas Logoreci chose two of their songs for the soundtrack of the 2014 movie Bota Cafè: "Hungry Thieves" by Alice Tambourine Lover and "The Sweet-Smelling Roads" by ALiX.
Their latest studio album Down Below was released for Go Down Records in March 2019. The album sways between soft atmospheres in the style of Mazzy Star / Cowboy Junkies and gritty flashes like Mark Lanegan. The Bolognese duo creates its own very personal style, that ranges between folk, blues, and psychedelia.
